In this website, we will review Bora-Bora Resorts and Hotels, here's a little starting point you should know before we go any further. Most of the of the resorts on Bora Bora plus the other Tahiti islands are built on Motu's, Motu's on Bora-Bora are smaller islands that surround the main
lagoon. These resorts on the Island usually face the lagoon or the islands largest mountain Mount Otemanu. Many of these Bora-Bora Resorts and hotels offer Overwater Bungalows, These bungalows are a unique feature to the French Polynesian islands, we will go through this in more detail within the site, they are a great form of accommodation because of their location above the lagoons waters and because they are also protected by this lagoons and its famous low tides.
A little about me.
I work in Marketing for a Large International company. You might be thinking "Marketing"? High Pressured? Well Trust me, with constant battles on budgets and trying to constantly beat the competition at their game, It leaves me Totally exhausted. That's why I LOVE Bora- Bora Tahiti, I Love Beach Vacations and this island is the pinnacle of Beach Vacations and I also love Bora Bora Art, so any chance of building to my collection, i jump at.
So where is Bora-Bora?
A popular tourist destination, famous for its overwater bungalows and luxury Bora Bora Resorts. The Island is served by one small Airport on Motu Mete in the north, with the national airline, Air Tahiti Nui providing daily flights to and from Tahiti Faaa international airport in Papeete, This airport is the largest airport in French Polynesia and services all the Society Islands and beyond.
Located 240 kms north-west of Tahiti in French Polynesia in the group of leeward islands, Bora-Bora Island is made up of a 10km long island with some smaller high islands in its large blue lagoon and a long ring of islands on the barrier reef.
Around 8800 people live on Bora-Bora Island, with the main island located in the centre of a magificent blue lagoon surrounded by motu islets (smaller islands, which are protected by a ring of coral reefs.) There is just one passage through the coral. It has a partially paved road which winds 29km around the island, passing through the villages and amazing archaeological sites such as the Ancient Marae. It's highly recommended that you arrange for a hire car with the local Car Rental Companies. I've included a nice little
map to show you the island.
The Bora-Bora lagoon offers a many of activities and tours and i'll describe them in the following pages of this website, from Shark feeding, where from chest-deep water you watch local divers feed 4' to 5' reef sharks by hand through to tours around the lagoon and a visit to the Lagoonarium near Le Meridien Hotel, we'll go into more detail in the activities page of this website.
Do not stress if you think that Bora-Bora is for lusting couples, Bora Bora is also popular amongst the singles especially professionals who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We will go into more details about singles vacations and singles resorts in this website also - we look after everyone.
"The Hills are Alive", strange but true, as mentioned earlier the island is dominated by three peaks: Mt Hue reaches 619m; Mt Pahia 661m; and Mt Otemanu 727m. The island is just nine kilometres from north to south and four kilometres at its widest point. A 32km road runs around the coast and is easily tackled by bicycle or Scooters and cars and as mentioned previously these can be rented on the island. Climbing these mountains forms part of the many activities and excursions on the island. More details will be found in the activities page.
Quick Facts

Do you like tropical fruits like Coconuts and even Fresh seafood? Well you'll get a huge overdose of them. The humble coconut is the main produce from this island, which is processed and made into items such as Oil, If you're like me the smell of Coconut oil reminds me of summer, plus there is fresh and plentiful fish from the glorious rich surrounding oceans, many of the Bora Bora Restaurants are reknown for their fresh Seafood dishes.
While it has the reputation of being one of the most incredibly beautiful islands in the world, it also has the reputation of being expensive in terms of the costs of resorts, restaurants, excursions and even its local shopping has known to be beyond most people's pockets - YIKES!. This is close to the truth as pretty much everything, including drinking water, has to be shipped in on the island. Taxes and local Government bureaucracy add to the high costs, but if you plan and are smart ( i'm not saying drinking rain water LOL) you can do the island on a budget too. I've included a currency converter to help you calculate your local costs.
So don't stress friends, as you can see I've checked out and done the research for you, so all you'll have to do is dream of that Charter Cruise or diving trips around the island.
